Myrtle Berens, 95 of Williston, North Dakota, passed away Thursday morning, January 10, 2019 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Myrtle Madeline Magnuson was born to George and Anna (Frantzick) Magnuson on July 29, 1923 in Wildrose, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in New Home Township near Wildrose.
In her early teens she stayed at home and helped care for the family and her ailing mother. Later on she did housework for several families in Williston and Minot.
In July of 1945, she and a cousin traveled to Spokane, Washington to find work. They worked at a small café and it was here she met Larry Berens. They were married June 23, 1946 in Spokane where they lived and worked for 30 years. In 1976, they decided to move back to Wildrose to help care for her mother and brother. In 1990, she moved to Williston.
Myrtle loved to read, listen to music and she did some sewing. She did house cleaning for others most of her adult life and was a very hard worker. Her abiding faith was a very important source of strength to her.
She is survived by one sister, LaVern Jorgenson of Williston; nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Myron) Hanson of Souris, Joyce Viall of ray, Lyn (Karla) Magnuson of Wildrose, Glenn(Susan) Jorgenson of Williston, Eugene Jorgenson of Williston, Mary (Gary) Smith of Lakeside, CAAmy Nichols of Fargo and Donald (Elaine) Barth of Spokane, WA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Larry, her parents, 3 brothers, Willard, Lester and Floyd Magnuson and one sister, Eva (Hjalmer) Jorgenson.
