Steve Larvick, 63, of Williston, passed away at his home on Monday morning, December 18, 2017.
Steve was born on July 22, 1954 to Florence and Lavern Larvick in Williston, ND. He attended school in Williston.
On July 9, 1977, Steve married Marvene Yockim. They joyfully welcomed two children into their family, Marcus in 1984 and Amber in 1988. Steve said he “loved his children more than life itself”.
Steve was well known as a “hard worker” and his first job was pouring concrete with his best friend, Larry Kroll during the early seventies. Steve also worked as a roughneck for different oilfield drilling rigs in the Williston Basin. In 1977, Steve went to work for WISCO Oilfield Services running casing. When things slowed in the ND oilfield, Steve traveled to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and Honduras, working on oil rigs there to support his family. In 1992, Steve and four partners started American Casing and Equipment, Inc. and in 2003, Steve became the sole owner of ACE. His outgoing personality and business savvy made American Casing and Equipment a successful business. His employees were a big part of ACE’s success throughout the years and valued their hard work and friendship. Steve was very proud of ACE, but often joked his business success was “dumb luck”.
Steve’s favorite hobby was golfing and he enjoyed taking his son Marcus and his brother Larry on golf vacations around the country before Larry died in 2013. He also coached his daughter Amber’s softball team for a number of years and in 2003, when they qualified for a national tournament, he chartered a bus to take the whole team and their parents to Louisiana for the tournament.
Steve loved spending time with his grandson, Easton. “Pop Pop” and Easton enjoyed any time that they were able to spend together, such as family vacations to Arizona, playing Wii video games and golfing at Steve’s shop, helping with outdoor yard chores and just hanging out. “Pop Pop” always told Easton, “You’re my Best Buddy!” He was thrilled when each of his grandchildren were born, Easton in 2012, Livy in 2015 and Aeris in 2017.
Steve was a generous man to his community, his friends and his family. He struggled with addiction issues during his life and while at treatment found a special bond with his Lord. Steve and his family were always grateful for the support of his friends during difficult times.
Surviving Steve are the love of his life, Marvene; his son, Marcus and his wife, Kattie and their daughter, Aeris; his daughter, Amber and her children Easton and Livy; his brother, David; his sister, Vicky and her children, Jeremy and Alex; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandnieces and his beloved dog, Marley.
Preceding Steve in death are his parents, Florence and Lavern and his brother, Larry.
