A true gentleman and professional Dr. I had the privilege of working with him for several years at the hospitals. He was always so kind and gentle to everyone. In later years he wanted to help deliver meals on wheels. He enjoyed it even though I know some days weren't easy. He was so easy to visit with and we enjoyed many events with him and Eleanor. Bless his memory and your family during this difficult time. 73606

Dr. Bob was an amazing man! My dad, Don Horab, had great respect for him and through my dad's stories, I knew of his kindness, love, and generosity. My dad loved his friendship. A special prayer sent out to the family for their hearts to heal quickly and be overtaken by beautiful memories.

Our thoughts are with all of you. Wanted to share that Max and I smiled the other day as we remembered a visit to your place when he was little, and he got to sit on the big red tractor. Good memories. Good smiles.

Eleanor, Kathy and family:
Dr. Bob was so good to me and the entire Radiology Department staff during the years I was blessed to work with him at Mercy. One story I want to share is that while I was the transcriptionist back in the day, we had been having a particularly stressful and very busy day. A certain doctor ( I won’t name names) called for a report that was not available yet and proceeded to be very rude to me on the phone. I put him on hold and went into the ladies room and sobbed for several minutes. When I thought I had myself back together I went back to my desk and back to work. Dr. Bob walked through my office and, even though my back was to him, he stopped and asked what was wrong. I began sobbing again, he gave me a big hug, I told him the story and he proceeded to call that doctor and tell him he was never to treat me that way again! I will be ever grateful for the protection and care we all felt from him for our Radiology “family”. I am so sad that I will not be here for the funeral but will be holding you all dearly in my thoughts and prayers. He was such a beautiful soul and may he rest in the peace of Christ. With love, Sarah (and Bruce) Haugen

To Eleanor, Kathy and family, We are extremely saddened to learn of Dr. Bob’s passing. We have lost one of the most honorable men and dedicated volunteers this community has seen. He gave me some photos he had taken at a fire scene out by his residence that I will always treasure, and of course we have one of his birdhouse’s he made that we purchased at a benefit. Our thoughts and prayers to a great family on this huge loss.
