I never met Grandma Ruth, but I heard much about her from my colleagues at Steen Metal West (also known as Sabin...).
I love the Steen family members I knew at Sabin, and I am sorry Grandma Ruth has left you here, but what a wonderful blessing that she was your guiding light for so long. Peace be with you all.

We are very sad to hear of your mother's passing. Celebrate a great and honorable life. I still remember the impact and comfort she gave all of us at Dale's funeral, especially Aunt Evelyn Kjorstad. Rest in Peace, dear Ruth.

What a beautiful woman Ruth was. I met her at Cursillo in Dickinson several times and she was a beautiful testimony to her faith in Jesus. I loved visiting with her and think of her often - especially if the bees are bugging me in the garden - she told me to wave them away in Jesus' name! I'm so sorry for your loss!

To all of Ruth Steen's family and friends,
I had many of Ruth's grandchildren in my classroom. In the spring she would bring some of her baby chicks to school to explain spring and especially Easter. I'll never forget her story and love for the children as they carefully held the chicks.
When my husband was so sick, she and her friend came to the house to sing and pray for him.
She was very special. I will never forget her smile and love for God. She had a special love for her family.
My prayers are with you and keep her memories as you face life. I will never forget her smile and caring ways.

So sorry for your loss.  During this difficult time, find comfort in God's thrilling promise found at Revelation 21: 3, 4 to soon wipe out every tear from our eyes, for death to be no more , and no more pain these things will be done away.  Knowing this promise I hope wiil give you the strength to endure.

Constantly looking out for the welfare of others before herself. Never before have I ever seen, someone give so much more than they ever received. But if you asked her, she'd say she was the one that was blessed. She was so true to herself and I loved her so very much because of it.

I'm sorry to hear of your grand matriarch's passing. I'm also a bit embarrassed to not know which of the three sons have passed. If Lee, whom I went to school with, is still among us, I particularly want you to know how sad I am for you, and of course, all the huge family. Reading Ruth's obituary gave me a wonderful understanding I never had as a boy at St. Joe's. May your grief pass quickly — certainly, fond memories will prevail among you all.

Our family lived across the street from the Steen family for a short time. I was in 1st grade and I remember going over to there house at times and I just remember how so very calming and nice Ruth was to be around. I remember seeing her at St. Joseph's church all the time. Ruth was a wonderful Lady always with kind and wise word. She lived a very humble life and never out side of her Means. I enjoyed visiting with her going to church and eating Brand muffin she had made, these are just a few of the wonderful thing she gave me. May she rest in peace, I believe she in her Father kingdom today

What an inspiring woman. If she met you once you best believe you were never forgotten. She always made sure anyone she met knew they had a friend and a place to go. I have many child/adult hood memories.
She will always be grandma Ruth to me. Never call her Ruth. She made sure you knew she was grandma.
Upon leaving a visit with her she never let you leave without an I love you and a prayer.
The entire Williston Community has lost an amazingly strong inspirational woman.
My thoughts and prayers are with all her family and friends.

I don’t know if I ever met someone who had the heart that Ruth had. I don’t believe she ever met a stranger. Once she knew you, you were family. No matter what you did she still loved you. I saw her basically give everything she had to others and she herself went without or with very little. She was a testimony to the world as Jesus shined through her. I am sure as she stepped into heaven God said”well done my faithful daughter”. I am so sorry Steen Family for your loss. The world is definitely a sadder place without her but heaven gained a faithful servant. Sending love, prayers and hugs.

Ruth Steen, was an amazing lady with a heart of gold. One Saturday evening, I was trying to sneek out of church early, but when I seen her I stopped and said "hi Mrs Steen" well she answered back " Mrs Steen nothing, its Grandma, now come here and give me a hug". Needless to say when I saw her it was " hi Grandma". This Lady will be missed.
